Snow, Finally, Sort Of

The boys and I have been waiting and waiting for some real snow. This morning we woke to snow covered ground. However on top was a layer of ice. But we are not picky in this house and rushed out to play in the winter wonderland. We all had a blast as we are snow loving people over here. We played for a long time several times times in the day.

On top of such fun in the snow, we all curled up in bed together and watched a movie; two of us fell asleep, one closed his eyes and the other was up and laughing the whole time. You can guess who was who. Love snow days.

Mommy the Princess

To set the story up: Aiden fell asleep at 5:30, Omer and I planned on eating dinner later, so Owen was eating alone. I was sitting with him and he started to ask questions about all the grandparents on my side. I tried to explain it and then thought to show him the picture of the whole family at our wedding. Owen enjoyed seeing everyone dressed up and the whole family; mainly his cousins all young.
Then he started to ask about weddings and why he wasn't there. I told he wasn't created yet and even Chester wasn't there. Then he mentioned that Chloe was and wanted to see that picture. So I got that one from downstairs and the other wedding pictures I have in the house. He loved looking at them and told I looked like a princess.
He then asked if I still had it and I said of course but that mommy is bigger now and probably won't fit it. Owen wanted to see it; so I got it out of the closet and tried it on. To much my surprise it actually fit and I could close the back. Not going to lie, could not zip it all the way up but did get the top closer closed. I was proud and excited, of course. Been nine years and two kids later. Big smiles!
The best part was Owen was super excited and kept hugging me and telling me how beautiful a princess I made. Yes, Aiden was still asleep and Omer was about to arrive. Owen told me I had to hide and he would present me to Daddy as a surprise. It was wonderful to be a princess for one night.

Boys Fort

Owen started to build this fort around the kids table. Of course Aiden became curious and started to help. Pretty cool fort for the two boys. They played very nicely in there for quite some time.

Chewbacca Puppet

My second creation from the Star Wars craft book. IT is pretty cool but can only fit little hands. Owen loves it so much he has been sleeping with him at night on his Jabba the Hut pillow.

Apology Jewelry

Owen and I had a little fight. Aiden was in his room for quiet room. So I told Owen that I was going to do other stuff until he could treat me nice again. A good 20 minutes or so he called me downstairs and surprised with a bracelet he made me to apology. Laughed that the 5 year old already figured out the apology jewelry. I loved it!

Aiden's Play Date

Most often Aiden's play dates consist of tagging along on Owen's or ones with his brother and their younger siblings. Luckily a lot of Owen's close friends have siblings around Aiden's age and all the young one's have become friends. But it is rare that he has a friend over to the house when it is just them. I honestly think the last time was maybe a year ago with his buddy Spencer.
This morning while Owen was in school, Aiden's friend Sadie came over to play. They are so cute together and I had a lot of fun playing with the two little ones.

Then we played Santa, so they would sleep and then I (aka Santa) would deliver toys. Then the tables turned and they were Santa's and I got toys. It was so cute to see them work together.

Ninja Swords

I have fought on the weapon issue in our house, and have not allowed any unless blow up. Well you can not fight nature. And it is just pure nature for boys to want weapons. Owen has been more and more interested in being a ninja and this morning he told me he wanted to get a ninja sword. He swore there was one downstairs, and what do you know all the way on top of a shelf there was Omer's old ninja sword from his Halloween costume from years ago. The boys loved it!
I promised them while they were at school I would pick up another one so they could be ninja's together. I figured if we had weapons in the house, there would be tons of fights and injuries. But to my surprise, after a rough beginning of the week, today there were no fights. They would not fight each other, they fought everything else, even their cute, adorable stuffed animals. I have to admit it was a lot of fun and loved seeing the teamwork. They totally have some natural ninja skills too.

Uh, Aiden did not want a costume because he wanted to be Naked Ninja

Aiden protected Duckie from not being hurt. He was called Naked Ninja's Pet
Finally Aiden decided to put some clothes on.

Owen's Camera

Owen got a camera for Christmas and still continues to love his new photography habit. He likes to take pictures of the puppies and us.

I was surprised to see a picture of Chloe's remains

He then set up some animals for his photo shoot.

Then he moved them to the fireplace and I took a picture of him with his animals
Then he made me hold his lizards as my earrings for a picture

Rainy Day Fun

After picking up Owen from school, he had science class where Aiden and just play while we wait. It started to really rain hard and after two days of the boys being a little more obnoxious towards each other, I thought I should change the day up.
So we went to the movie theatre to see the Chipmunks movie. We were the only ones there so it was great. The boys loved the movie and were laughing out loud.
Then as they always complain about too short of a bath before bed time but never want to earlier; I decided when we got home to let them have a mid-afternoon, long as they want, bubble bath. They loved it and were in there for 45 minutes. They were quite wrinkly when they got out.
It was a great and relaxing rainy afternoon.
