Playground Fun

While Owen was in school Aiden and I met some friends at the playground. Aiden loves to go to the playground and was all smiles today.

Exploring Nature

My kids are big nature explorers, no suprise. We walk almost every day or so and today we all went to the creek. The boys climbed down to explore the water. Always enjoy our nature time.

Singing Aiden

Aiden loves to sing and does often throughout the day, while in the car, while playing, while eating, etc. I wanted to capture some of his singing so while we were playing outside he just started to sing so I quickly got the camera. He sang Twinkle Little Star, Rock-a-Bye Baby, Caillou, small portion of Wheels on the Bus and then Frosty. I love listening to his little singing voice.

Adventure Theatre

After taking Owen in December to see the Rudolph play, I fell in love with Glen Echo park and Adventure Theatre. It was so awesome and Owen loved it. And the plays are around an hour so doable with a smaller child. Also can't wait for warmer weather because there is so much to do there. Looking forward to spending the morning there exploring with the kids. But today we all went to see "If You Give a Cat a Cupcake." And the boys loved it! Owen was laughing and participating and told me later on that the cat was so much fun. Aiden was in awe and not sure he blinked the whole time. He was entranced and completely paying attention. It was a great play and looking forward to going to more little plays with the boys.

Insta-Snow

Owen has been doing a science class since the fall and LOVES it. It looks forward to it all week. The great part is he gets take home science projects too. Today was Insta-Snow. AWESOME!!! Owen poured the water on to polymers that immediately expanded into snow-like substance. Owen and honestly I were both amazed. You then can sprinkle salt onto the snow and it will melt. You can also freeze it and will feel more like real crunchy snow. It was a really cool and fun experiment.

Afterwards we dumped all the snow on a sheet so Owen could play trucks
Then we poured salt on it...
And watched it melt. Owen was squeezing the water out.
Then Aiden woke from nap and discovered the fun of fake snow too.

Happy St. Patty's Day

Owen came home yesterday and informed me how the pesky leprechaun trashed his class and left gold coins for them all. Of course he followed that with "I hope he comes to our house. I wonder what tricks he'll play." Egad, I thought. I hadn't planned to do anything really for St Patty's Day, but with the excitement from Owen I had to. I went out and got a couple items and then had some fun while they were asleep. Can't put into words how excited Owen was about the Leprechaun coming to his house. His face lit up when he saw what happened to the playroom and then quickly started looking around the whole house to find all the tricks. He was so into he even created items that happened that were honestly already like that. Aiden was excited to get chocolate for the most part. Obviously a little young to find the humor in the Leprechauns tricks, but enjoyed his treats and clover antenna. It was a wonderful morning of Leprechaun fun!

Clover Owen
Clover Aiden

Aiden enjoyed the Leprechaun pulling out the tent
Owen discovered the chairs had been turned over with clover cutters on them
The Leprechaun turned our breakfast chairs around
Owen made an adorable leprechaun hat at school and underneath was a gold coin
Aiden made a leprechaun wand and underneath a gold coin
Owen's favorite was the green water in the toilet
Leprechaun also snuck in Owen's room in the middle of the night and moved all his big stuffed animals over to one side
At lunch Owen put on his hat and made some of his classic goofy faces.

At least he gave me a sweet one too

Different Directions

Often when we take our walks the boys want to do the same activity and stay together, but then some days they just don't. Today they started off good, playing with sticks in the pond but then Aiden wanted to go home to get more snack and Owen wanted to stay and play in the dirt.

So...Aiden took the wagon and started off home

And Owen sat and dug in the dirt

In the end, Owen was happy to race home with Aiden. And during our walk Owen stood with his hand behind his back, and surprised me with a daffodil. And Aiden actually held my hand, which he never does, not even when he was learning to walk. It was a great hour outdoors.

Natural History Museum

Omer and I have been eager to get the boys up to the Natural History Museum for a month now, and finally had a good weekend to go. We always go in the morning and works great, so that was the plan, however, I woke up with a migraine that made me sick to my stomach. I really tried to rally and go but just couldn't. After a nice rest I finally started to feel better. So we decided to still go and just head out after Aiden had a little nap. We all did have a great time, however we will not go back in the afternoon for a very long time. Both boys were just tired after an hour. But they rallied and made it through all our normal sections with going a little more quick near the end. The boys were so cute to watch explore all the museum had to offer. Mainly Aiden who was very young last time we went and didn't really get it, this time he was in awe of everything he got to see. This time for Owen, he actually enjoyed listening to some of the facts about everything. It was a great time even if we were all tired at the end.

Woody vs Snake

A common game in the house is Omer pretends to be Woody and the boys chase, attack, play, etc with Woody as snakes. Tonight Aiden took it to another level. He would have the snake sleep, tell Woody and his partner Owen, they would creep up and then Aiden would make the snake jump and scare them. It was hilarious! The video was near the end and the game had changed a little but still good times.

Race and Rest

We all went on a walk today and the boys started to race. Aiden actually started to get upset he couldn't keep up with Owen, so very sweetly Owen came back to get him and then ran a little slower. Then Owen got tired so he laid on the ground, Aiden of course thought this was fun and joined him. They would race, rest and then jump back up and do it all again.

Nature Boy

After using all the toliet paper on the roll, Owen took it off and started to color it. He came and told me he was making a telescope. Then he put on his nature vest, and filled it with all nature tools. Owen loves to explore.

Aiden's 2 Year Stats

I had Aiden's 2 year well check-up this morning, and sadly he developed an ear infection the night before. He was miserable and fell asleep twice before his 9:30 am appointment. Good thing is we already had the appointment to include checking on his sick stuff. The poor guy was so pitiful the whole time, but we were able to do the whole check up minus the vaccines, lucky Aiden. Along with the double ear infection, the doc said Aiden looks awesome. He is growing, even though still very tiny. His growth curve is up and he eats a lot, so not concerned. His heart murmur has not changed so no concern. Developmentally he is ahead physically and on mark verbally and socially.
