Trick or Treating

Owen was very excited this year about trick or treating. He would talk about walking in the dark and going to every house. Sadly it rained on us a little but the pumpkin did not seem to care, but it didn't last long. It was cute to watch him go up to the doors on his own and be so excited about decorations and stuff. He got a lot of loot and we are really trying to limit the amount of treats he gets each day. :) Of course Aiden had no opinion about the outing, he enjoyed the ride though.

Neighborhood Halloween Party

Our neighborhood held a Halloween Party, but it was the same time as the birthday party so Omer and Owen headed over while Aiden and I were at the birthday party. They had a great time and Owen got to see Johnny, one of his favorite friends from school.

Birthday Party

Aiden was invited to a friend's son's first birthday party. He had a great time being among some younger kids and loved the music class.

He enjoyed the peek-a-boo scarves.

Listening Intently
He crawled over while Mrs. Beth sang and wanted to strum the guitar.

However he enjoyed making his way back to the blinds and cords the most.

Halloween Party

Omer's work had its annual Halloween party, however not that many people this year due to a hockey game and also they were running very late so Aiden and I had to leave early (right when dinner arrived) to get him home for bed. But Owen and Omer had an awesome time. Owen befriended a 5 year old boy from the start and they had a blast.

Moving Aiden

Aiden is a mover in all ways. He does not sit still for long, just likes to crawl around and play. For the past weeks he has been perfecting his cruising and now can go from one thing to another very well. And this morning he stood unassisted for about 9 seconds. He kept doing it and was very proud. Also this morning he used his caterpillar toy to push and walk. Walking is around the corner. I tried to get some video but hard to do when Owen is around. But it is him standing and cruising at the gate, cruising and playing at the caterpillar (yes I should been on the other side of him at this point, but was playing a game with Owen while I recorded), and then him standing (you will have to turn your head to the side...oops, forgot about that). In the next couple days I'll try to get some better video and pictures of him and his new skill.

Halloween Parade

Owen's school had a Halloween Parade today. The parents were invited to come watch and then go back to their class for a couple songs. Owen gets very confused when I come in his school and he always seems very quiet and just watches me. Just not himself. But I got to see him in his class after all the parents left and he was playing with friends Johnny and Addie. They were so cute!

Reading

Owen has been a book lover since he was months old. It is by far one of his favorite things to do and he really listens and gets involved in the books. He has memorized many, many of his favorites and even will act them out with his toys. Aiden, even with my best efforts, still prefers to just eat the books. But recently he has started to want to flip through the pages. He still will not sit and pay attention while you read.

After nap I was putting laundry away while the boys dug through Aiden's bookcase and I found them reading together. So cute!

SomeTidbits

Things He Says
Owen can say some super funny and super sweet stuff. These are some that I can remember from the past week:
1- "I am going to put you in the car and take you home, Daddy." We visited Omer at work for lunch because he wouldn't be home until way after the boys were asleep.
2- "You are my Mzee, Mommy." Reading Owen and Mzee before nap, a book about best friends.
3- "Are you my best friend little Aderee?"
4- "Just chill out Mom." I obviously say this too much but love hearing him tell me.
5- "What did you do at school today," I ask. "Probably nothing," responds Owen. I already have a teenager....however throughout the day he starts to tell me some stuff.
6- "I am the superhero and you are a princess, Mommy, because you are a girl."

Aiden Noises
Aiden makes lots of different noises and has started to make sounds that are very close to words. His sounds includes the M, H, B, A and D noises. He sounds like he says Dada and Hiya. But mostly he grunts a lot.

Little Aderee
Owen has given his little brother a nickname, Little Aderee. Not sure where this came from but I of course love it and think it is super sweet that Owen has nicknamed him. He calls him it all the time.

Finger Foods
Aiden shows a preference on feeding himself (fine by me, hate doing baby food). He is very skilled at getting it in his mouth and pretty good about chewing. So I have had to go back to my memory bank and remember what to feed baby's. His favorites include graham crackers, cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, pears, bananas, mini toast, and bagel. I honestly need to be better about planning for the little one and prep some veggies and fruits for him to eat, so I still do the baby food for that....because, come on it's just easier.

Three, A Special Age
This is how I describe three year olds. For Owen, his two year stage was no biggie. He never really threw big fits, he paid attention and listened pretty well. His three year old self can be super sweet and funny and then super bratty. Wow! Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde!!! The good far aways the bad though. He is still a pretty darn good kid but really has figured out how to manipulate.

Determined
Aiden is very determined little boy. Even Owen has picked up on this and will say "Little Aderee is determined to get those leaves." He is in everything and does not stop. This has made it difficult to babyproof and I have to watch him all the time. Already found the toilet paper, oh the fun games.

Fall Hike

If you have been reading this blog from day one you know that every Fall I convince Omer to go hiking with me to enjoy the foliage. Today was the day. Aiden enjoyed the ride and took a quick little nap. Owen had a ton of fun running down the hills and then got tired and Omer had to carry him the rest of the way, about 15 minutes. At least he got some snuggles. Next time we'll make sure to bring the backpack. The leaves were beautiful but I think this weekend they'll be prime. There is nothing better than a hike in the Fall.
