Trick or Treat

We planned or loop, usual 25 min walk, took an hour and a half trick or treating. Lesson learned. The boys had a blast until about the last block, they were both tired. The got to stay up an hour later to enjoy the holiday and all the loot. For the first hour both boys were off at top speed. Aiden would not let us pick him up, he just wanted to try to keep up with his big brother. Owen was very into the whole process and for the most part would say trick or treat and both always said thank you. Owen even learned within one house to look for the lighted houses. They both enjoyed looking at the decorations and seeing the other costumes kids. At one part Owen ran into a friend and they really loved going to the houses together. Another cute part was Aiden running behind Owen calling "Wolverine." Adorable! Overall the night was so much fun and the kids had a blast.

Owen's school holds a Halloween Parade where the kids march and then pose for the cameras. Afterwards we are invited to their rooms for them to perform some Halloween songs and poems. Owen was super cute and participated in all the activities.

Reptile Visitor

So after our long walk we went out back to play and Owen calls to me that he found a turtle. Really?!? I think. What did I find a turtle in our porch. The boys were quite excited and sat on the stoop very nicely watching the reptile. Aiden and I kept calling it a turtle, when little expert Owen corrected us and said, "Mommy, it is a tortoise because he only lives on land and has scales on his legs." Oops, sorry. The little guys really could walk fast too. Owen wanted to give him some strawberries that the tortoise very politely refused. Later in the day we check on him and he was gone, so we assumed he headed back to the pond. But the next day while Owen was in school he resurfaced. Aiden and I opened the gate for him so he could return home. And yes I made sure that he made it across the street safely back to the pond.

Fall Walk

The boys, dogs and I took a wonderful walk through the paths in our neighborhood. It was absolutely gorgeous out today, with the majority of leaves in fall hues, and leaves sprinkled on the path. When we got to our normal turn spot to head home, Owen declared we needed to go down the other path because we hadn't seen that for a million years. The boys had fun running and crunching leaves, sitting in leaves, watching the creek, etc. And then when we turned back to walk home they wanted to walk the pups. The dogs are so great when the kids take over the leashes. It makes my heart melt and my face glow. It was really cool to see Owen really take charge, when a lady was passing us he pulled Chloe to the side, started to wind up her leash, just like I do. Then when he was walking Chester and the leash would get under his legs, Owen would stop, lift Chester's leg and fix the leash. What a little observer and such a big kid now. We walked for over an hour and had one of those mornings that I will never forget. Took these with my phone as our long walk was not a planned thing, and happy to say most came out pretty well.
