Playground Playdate

Once again it is much warmer than it should be in late December. So I picked up Johnny and Owen Carson got dropped off and me and the four boys played at their school's playground. The boys had a blast. The three older boys played so many fun games together and Aiden just wanted to play in the sandbox with me. Along with some major chase games with me as the monster, the boys played ninja, made soup, crushed ice chunks, and much more. But wait to you see the video of them "break dancing".

There was a lot of stick play, but no one tried to hurt each other. Beautiful!

Play all Day

I took Owen's friend, Johnny for the majority of the day. They had a blast and Aiden loves him too and they all three play so well together. The boys had a wonderful day.
Started the morning out at Sport Bounce. All three boys went down the slides together. It was so cute to watch them. Sorry for blurriness but they were moving quick and phone camera isn't that speedy.

Then we headed home where the boys played and played. The majority of play was dress-up based.

Yes, this is my little Aiden as a mean old werewolf.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to All!! We enjoyed a very relaxing Christmas with just the six of us.
Started out with a late night before at a Christmas Eve party, but when we returned home Owen was like a machine. He ran around to put out the cookies and milk, clean up the fireplace for Santa, and say goodbye and Merry Christmas to Christopher (our elf). They were both excited but Aiden was exhausted and passed right out, Owen however had to be reminded to sleep.
Aiden woke at 7:30 and after a couple minutes we decided to let Aiden wake Owen so we could start Christmas. I know it pained me to wake a child but we were excited. It was hilarious to watch Aiden wake him. He climbed in his bed, went near Owen's head and started saying "Owen it's Christmas!!!" over and over. Owen is a super deep sleeper so took him a couple times but then staggered out of bed stumbling all over. He was so excited he jumped out of bed before his mind or body was awake. It was classic!
The boys rushed downstairs to their stockings. Owen opened his so quick I barely saw his reaction, but from what we can tell he liked it but was not overjoyed, but he would never tell us that. Aiden on the other hand was so excited he just picked up the closest stocking and started opening even though it was Callie's. It was so funny; but then he got his and was so excited. He enjoyed most of it but got the biggest reaction from the candy. He smacked his lips over and over.
Quickly they ran to the tree and were very good about opening one at a time and looking and opening that gift. They were very grateful for everything and got all they asked and a couple surprises. Owen told Santa a big thank you and they both said it was the best Christmas. They also thanked us several times for our gifts. It was sweet.
With no visitors and no where to go, we enjoyed the rest of the day just playing with all the boys new toys, hanging in our PJ's, naps, a special movie time and albeit just the four of us I made a nice dinner.
It was a wonderful Christmas and we felt joyful and loved.

I got a little of the stocking openings. The funny part was Aiden asked Santa for a dinosaur but his reaction on getting one was awesome. Then Owen missed his Scooby towel and when he his searching for it in his stocking just made us laugh. I stopped it so I could help him. Oops it was wrapped in his shirt. Chester of course just wanted his tummy Christmas treats and Callie, well I guess she never had a stocking before and ran around outside and then came in to explore all her new toys that she loved all day long.

Christmas Scavenger Hunt

It is a Christmas tradition for our family to have a scavenger hunt for the kids on Christmas Eve. With Omer gone most the day and only here for an hour before we needed to head out for his family's friends Christmas Eve party, we had to have everything done and ready before.
We were ready to go after the boys took a bath before getting their party clothes on. I was impressed that Owen remember this activity from last year. He asked a couple days ago if we were going to do it again. We were all excited. Aiden still is a little young and took some time to really understand what was happening but did catch on and was all about helping. the boys dashed around the house trying to figure out the next clue.
They ended in the tree in Owen's room and were so excited to open their gifts. Another tradition of ours is to adopt an animal for the boys each year. That was the gift we chose to give them tonight. They were so excited and had huge smiles and gave their animals lots of snuggles. At tonight they are snuggled with them sleeping. I especially love that Owen really understands what this means and takes pride in helping take care of endangered animals.

Christmas Eve at National Harbor

Omer was at the Redskins game all day so I thought it would be fun to do something special and different with the boys. Last time I was at the National Harbor, I saw there was a beginning of a children's museum there. The actual museum won't open for a year but right now they have a small space with some activities. I also saw that they have a water-skiing and water sport Santa, Grinch, reindeer's, snowman and elves. My sister came along for the fun too.
I must say that the whole thing was mediocre in my opinion but the boys never complained and seemed to be having a great time. I was expected more but the great thing about kids as they live in the moment and enjoy what is around them. The only part they got a little antsy with was the amount of time between each water holiday figure. All in all we all had fun Christmas Eve at the National Harbor.
At the Children's museum the boys ran around and looked at all the stations but really Owen just colored and built blocks and Aiden drove cars and played house.

Then we walked down to the water and the boys were super excited to see a beach. The water Christmas characters were fun but slow going so hard to keep their attention when there was a beach and fun statues to play around.
