Owen's highlights:
1. First day just like last year didn't want to go to the water, but then on accident he got his feet wet and loved it. Then he went from holding my hand in the surf to jumping and running in the surf to going into the ocean (being held my Omer or I) and splashing around. We were proud of him.
2. Randomly caught a sand flea and built a bucket home for it and then searched for some friends. Grandma found two more for him and it was great fun watching him catch them and put them back in.
3. He found crab claws, crab shells, an intact horseshoe crab shell. He was in critter heaven.
4. We found a piece of coral with lots of critters on it, which of course meant a bucket home for it with lots of exploration.
5. Lots of digging, sand castle stomping, playing in the water, chasing crabs, and beach walking for shells.
6. Loved the pool and let us swim him around or he'd hang on his ledge in the pool.
Aiden Highlights:
1. Fearless! He would run right to the water and we'd have to stop him. Loved to get splashed and run in the water. When he'd get knocked down he shook it off. Happily went in the ocean with Omer and I.
2. Loved being covered with sand and helping with his shovel.
3. Obsessed with all the pelicans. He'd point then out and try to say bird and caw.
4. Favorite was digging a hole and then sitting in it until the water came to wash him over.
5. Lots of digging, sand castle stomping, playing in the water, chasing crabs, and beach walking for shells.
6. Loved the pool and let us swim him around, but his favorite was playing with the hose at the pool.
The boys were so excited every day that we were at the beach by 8:30 or so every morning for about 3 hours and then after rest time back down again. It was awesome. The boys do the beach like we do. Other than the beach and pool, we pretty much just enjoyed playing on our decks watching the waves, went to a couple stores, and did make a trip to the aquarium. We had the most amazing weather and a wonderful house. Finally got an oceanfront house, so had a private walk and of course an amazing view. Sleeping to the waves crashing is majestic. The puppies had a wonderful time as always. Chester chased birds and sought out shade. Chloe sunbathed, rolled in the sand and enjoyed beach walks.
It was also great watching the bond between Grandma and the boys build. She was such fun to have on the trip and Owen and her really developed a bond that they used to have. And of course Omer and I got away for a quiet dinner date. Jenni was able to come down half way and as always wonderful to have her around and the boys love to play with Jenni.
There were a couple moments that we didn't have the camera and I just want to make sure I remember as they of course were a couple of my favorite times at the beach.
1. The first day there the opening soccer game was on so I took the boys down to the beach alone. Honestly I was a little nervous as we'd only had one morning there and didn't know what to really expect. But we had a fabulous time. We all splashed around and Aiden decided to sit where the surf breaks so Owen and I joined him. So I sat with both my boys as the waves came up and splashed us. Lots of giggles.
2. We all took a walk and found someone's HUGE sand hole. The boys had a wonderful time sliding down it, sitting in the hole, Aiden did a couple face plants in the sand, and then they'd run together to wash off in the waves. At one point both were sitting with huge smiles in the hole. And another time Owen asked Aiden is he wanted to hold his hand to run to the water. Both boys holding hands running to the water. Magic Moments!
Okay, I think I covered most of it. And now for the 200 pictures (reduced down from 400). We were a little camera happy with the water pictures as we were so excited that Owen was going in and of course ocean Aiden pictures were too cute.
It was a wonderful vacation, family fun and relaxation. Perfect!
