Leesburg Animal Park

We were planning to take the boys to Leesburg Animal Park this morning but it could not have come on a better day. The night before I was looking through the WWF adoption catalog with the boys and Owen told us he wanted to travel far and help all the animals. He wants to adopt them and take good care of them. I told him we could visit some adopted animals and help out but that he was still too young to work this job. I love that Owen talks about this and he is excited to see what animal I adopt for him this Christmas (a tradition now).

He was ready to go with his safari vest and his sidekick the pig. It was fun to discuss with him what part of the world the animals came from. Such curious, caring minds. We had a wonderful time and I need to remember to go back to LAP more often; it is wonderful.

This was the view of the boys at every animal.
Alpaca and Hiding Baby
Not sure why but the sheep wanted to sniff the boys' shoes.
Sweet Deer
Some Pig
This was an amazing story and touched my heart that I teared up. Short story, the mom pig was the runt and nursed by staff. She grew and grew but never too large, she mated but some how broke her back getting. She healed and took care of her babies. Amazing!

After viewing some of the animals, including the above and some different cows, goats and so on, the boys played in the sand pit.
Then Aiden took a pony ride. He loved it! Owen did not want to go; still not sure why.

They had a paintball you shoot at Ogre. Aiden was all about it; a little too much. He went right for it and was great at shooting. However he is a little trigger happy and sometimes shot before it was fully cocked. He loved it. Once again Owen did not want to do this activity. He told me he didn't want to shoot Ogre.

They took another break to play in the sand pit while I swung on the rope ball swing. SO MUCH FUN! I felt like a kid again. Aiden wanted to go as well but too small. So he sat on my lap and through the air we went.

You can't tell so much but these are very large rabbits.

  1. I can only see a few pictures, but sounds like a great time! Owen is for sure going to be some kind of scientist when is older :) Absolutely love the pictures of Aiden on the horse wearing his pig mask!
